Fuse Medway Festival 2011 – see it, hear it, be part of it.

Medway Fuse Festival

Arts Council England has awarded £100,000 towards the running of this year’s Fuse Medway Festival.

The weekend celebration of arts and creativity will take place from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th June.

And following its announcement in February that Medway’s festivals are to be safeguarded, the council has set aside £50,000 towards the event.

This will help provide an innovative programme of free arts events for all.

Fuse Medway Festival combines cutting edge performances with outdoor community events, attracting thousands of visitors each year from Medway and beyond.

Highlights of last year’s festival included a giant family tea party, operatic performances, breathtaking aerial dance and a pyrotechnic spectacular set on board LV21, the famous light vessel moored in the River Medway.

This year’s event promises to bring even more colourful sights and sounds to Medway’s open spaces, from vibrant street theatre to world-class dance and circus acts.

Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services Cllr Howard Doe said: “It’s excellent news that Arts Council England have continued to show their commitment to the Fuse Festival, which has quickly become one of the biggest cultural events in the south-east”.

“I hope that everyone will come along this year and enjoy the extraordinary experiences offered by this wonderful free event”.
