On December 4th 2015, Real Medway and Swale will be releasing ‘Monsters of Rochester’ the town’s first augmented reality game for Android and iOS smartphones. It has been created with funding from Ideas Test Swale and Medway using a game engine developed by Haunted Planet Studios, who are based in Dublin.

In the game, players explore the local area, seeing, hearing and taking photographs of different characters they find and discovering their stories. The games uses Smartphone cameras and GPS to find monsters who have been hidden across the town.

The stories, artwork and voice acting found within the game have been created by a team of local writers and artists brought together by Roy Smith from Rochester, who has ‘directed’ the development of the game. He says about the game: ‘I hope the game works for lots of people. Getting locals to find something different in familiar places or for tourists looking for an alternative to traditional history walks. I don’t think any monsters have escaped in Rochester’s history, not that I am aware of anyway…’

The App is due for release on December 4th on both iOS and Android phones. For up to date information and to download the App, visit: http://www.realmedwayandswale.com the Facebook event page can be seen here www.facebook.com/events/1652752008316190/
