After a successful debut, Making Art Work will be returning with the indoor ART MARKET in Maidstone on Saturday the 17th of September 2016, 9am-4pm. Loosely inspired by the success of “The Art Car Boot Fair”, the ART MARKET event will be held in the historic agricultural hall in the heart of the busy market place.
The first Art Market attracted in excess of 1500 visitors with over 85 exhibitor stands featuring contemporary artists, who have exhibited nationally and internationally from across Kent and the South East. It’s not surprising that Making Art Work decided to host the event again, after artists confirmed that the event had created the perfect platform to sell work directly, secure commissions and course bookings, and in some cases artists being signed up by galleries, as well as creating great networking opportunities.
As well as the program of performers, returning as part of the 2016 program they will be running a charity art auction, with the proceeds going to two selected charities: The Foundling Museum and MIND. With works donated by Nina Fowler, Rod McIntosh, Magda Archer, Stella Vine plus many more.
Also this year, they have commissioned two local artists, Jane Pitt and Rosie McGinn to work in collaboration with one of the sponsors, Wilmoth Citroen Maidstone. The Artists will use two vehicles supplied by Wilmoth as a catalyst to create new interactive works.
“It was a wonderful event, that was very much in line with our own philosophy of philanthropy within the arts and support to emerging artists” The Foundling Museum
