Medway Council Arts Development Team are offering exhibition bursaries to four Medway printmakers. These will enable them to create a body of work inspired by the Guildhall Museums collection of outstanding historic Dutch Prints, for a shared exhibition at Rochester Art Gallery (2 June -27 Aug ’17) as part of Medway Print Festival (9-25 June) and the Battle of Medway 350th Commemorations (8-17 June).

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend a pre-application ‘Inspiration Event’ at The Guildhall Museum on Tue 8 Nov 7-9pm to find out more about the bursaries, view some of the relevant collections and learn more about the Battle of Medway from the museum curators. The Dutch collection includes many fascinating historic maps, plans, portraits and engraved news sheets that detail this important victory for the Dutch navy in 1667.

To be eligible to apply for a £500 Exhibition Bursary, printmakers must be currently living, studying or working in Medway. We particularly welcome applications for innovative approaches to printmaking and/or interesting ways of interpreting the historic themes in a contemporary way. Application will be by a short proposal no more than a side of A4.

Full details, dates, eligibility criteria and how to apply are available by emailing the Arts Team arts@medway.gov.uk. Applications will be accepted from Wed 9 November and up to 12 noon on Fri 2 December 2016.
