The North Kent Local Authority Arts Partnership would like to invite artists to submit their work for “Encounter”: a series of 6 temporary art experiences taking place across urban spaces of North Kent during the summer of 2011.
Encounter will transform 2 urban sites in Medway and the boroughs of Gravesham and Swale, through a range of temporary, site specific installations, performances or events developed with local community groups. The encounters will take place in familiar spaces in the heart of the community – shops, businesses, high streets and public squares – and will be linked by a programme of talks and discussions, as well as documentation through film, photography and writing on the Encounter website.
Encounter will draw diverse audiences of all ages and abilities from across North Kent, as well as further afield. It will nurture North Kent’s identity as a place for local people to be proud of, and as an attractive destination for visitors.
Encounter is produced by NKLAAP (North Kent Local Authority Arts Partnership), a local authority arts partnership incorporating Medway Council, Kent County Council and the boroughs of Gravesham and Swale.
