Arts Council England has awarded £100,000 towards the running of this year’s Fuse Medway Festival.
Throughout April 2011 Philip Kane plans on running an experiment to try answering the following question: What impact can the development of a virtual community have on a real world creative community?

What is MADE?
An independent fair with affordable alternative handmade creations. From artist’s books, zines and small press to lovingly crafted/knitted/cut/stamped/pressed products made by hand.
Pete Molinari from Kent has traveled the world playing, writing and recording his music. He speaks to Creatabot and tells us a little more about his background and what inspires him.
Matthew Bray is a well known artist in the Medway area. He kindly spoke to Creatabot to tell us a little more about himself and his background.
Kevin Proctor speaks to Creatabot about how he came to be involved in film production and became director of the web series “Self Centered”. Kevin Proctor is the ideal example of how to work your way up the ladder within media using your own initiative. Hopefully by learning more about Kevin’s past this can help to inspire others who would love to work in production.
Applications are invited from artists to participate in a mini-residency on LV21, a lightship moored off Gillingham Pier in Kent.
Taking place over three days in March and April, artists will collaborate in responding to the space, generating new work and conversations about practising in public. On the third day, the public will be invited to come on board and see the work made, and join in the conversation.

This new book by Kent writer Neil Nixon discusses the opportunities that exist out there for writers. It is a book about generating an income from your writing showing you the way your ideas and words can be employed to earn money.

The Deaf Cat studios are set over three floors forming a small, creative community and there are currently 3 studios available for hire.
Ryan John is a singer and song writer who currently lives in Chatham, Kent. He writes from home and has a home recording studio set-up, but also records in Camden, London at Zay-D’s studio, who are the production company that produces some of Ryan’s material.
The first web episode of “Self Centered” starring Eastenders star Kellie Shirley has just been released online. The series is written by Kent writer Steven Keevil, Directed by Kevin Proctor and Produced by Tamana Bleasdale and follows the life of a young depressed actress who seemingly has a new purpose in life given to her when she wakes up in a rehab clinic in the future.
Each episode of the series will be released over the next 6 weeks and are available to watch in HD through “You tube” at:

The Groundwork community cafe in Gillingham aims to bring together the local community and help to share ideas, art and provide training.
Sian Bostwick is a jewellery designer in Rochester, Kent with incredible skill and talent. Her work, inspired by fairytales and fantasies, truly please the eye and each piece is beautifully crafted in its design. To find out more about her skill and in the aim of inspiring others I asked Sian some questions about herself and her craft.
From the 29th of January Curious Planet will be running a series of theatre performance and design workshops at the Brook Theatre in Chatham in the run up to the production of their new opera: Element – Beyond the Immutable Weight of Gravity.

The North Kent Local Authority Arts Partnership would like to invite artists to submit their work for “Encounter”: a series of 6 temporary art experiences taking place across urban spaces of North Kent during the summer of 2011.
The “Year In The Life Of” photography project returns for 2011, this time also extending to include Canterbury and Sheppey. The project aims to capture a year in the life of each area and present 365 photographs, one for each day of 2011.
